Welcome

I am a 30-something mom of three and wife of more than 11 years. I work nights doing data entry from home and attend college part time to get a degree in special education. I stay home during the day with my youngest son and my older son and daughter are twins in 1st grade. Please use a direct link if you want to include my items on your site. You may do what you want with the items you make from my free stuff with the exception of selling them on Etsy. I have an Etsy shop and don't want to compete with my own designs. This is such a cute pattern! I'm making it right now, but I'm not too experienced with following patterns... and I was hoping for some clarification on one part here.

For this [rows 2-5: DC in each DC across, putting 1 DC, CH 1, 1 DC in next ch, in center CH 1 space of corner below.]

Does that mean to do 1dc, ch1, 1dc in every ch1 space? Or is it certain ch1 spaces? Or is it something else? Sorry about this, I just want to make sure I understand it right. :D Thanks!

  1. Sorry, I missed this question. You understood it right. In the CORNER CH 1 space you want to (DC, CH 1, and DC again) all in the same space. It makes the corner.

This is really sweet. How much yarn did you use?

  1. I usually buy my main color by the spool and accent colors by the ball. I can make this dress, hat, diaper cover, booties and small blanket with one spool of yarn and two to four balls of accent color depending on the patterns and sizes. My best guess is that this could be made with three 2 oz balls of yarn. I can definitely do this dress with one 5oz skein of Simply Soft but wouldn't have enough to do anything else.

Almost finished and it's so cute! I used a heavier cotton yarn and it turned out about size 1 year, but that's okay, I'm making it for charity. I'm going to try to make the hat to go with it!

What a cute dress!!! I'm trying it now but have a question...rows 7-9 state HDC in each st across...for row 7 do you HDC in each of the chs of the ch 4 on previous row?

  1. Tina says:

Yes, you do DC in each of the chains (or around them, it's your choice). Glad you like it!

    Thanks for the quick answer!!!

This is such a cute little dress. I added a ruffle around the bottom and the sleeves and put 3 balloons as decoration on the front. I'm making a hat and booties to match. It will be a baby shower gift. I also made one to give to charity. Here is a link to the pictures of the dresses if you'd like to see it: http://picasaweb.google.com/tiffany7no/Crochet#

  1. Tiffany, thank you so much for sharing your finished dresses, they are darling and I love the ruffles. I have a hat and diaper cover pattern that match it here if you are still looking.

How do you make it larger? I want to make for my 7 month old.

I'm somehow misinterpreting this pattern -- not sure what I've done wrong. Any chance I could send you a picture or 2 and you could try to tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks SO much!

  1. Certainly, you may email me at hyphenatedlady@yahoo.com .

  1. I dont understand row 6 could you explain. Do I double in the first corner then chain 4 and double again then one chain in the next corner and the same in coner 3 as corner 1?

  1. Row six makes the arm holes. You DC in the middle of the first corner, chain 4 then dc directly into the next corner. You do the same thing for the next two corners. When you do this it folds the front and back together with the opening in back.

  1. Thank you that helped a lot. I am still learning how to read patterens. Could you explain the last step by joining the opening? Do I sc the back together?

  1. You use a slip stitch to join the bottom of the bodice together and work the skirt in the round joining each round with a slip stitch (the first DC of the round to the last DC of the round). You will have the top few rows unjoined to leave room to slip it on baby.

Can you provide chest measurements and length? I'm not a pro at making clothes and just need some assurance that this will fight my daughter when she is born in july. Thank you :). It is really pretty!!

    fit not fight...sorry

  1. I wish I had one on hand to measure, I am sorry. As written it is slightly bigger than a newborn sized dress from Walmart or Target but not quite as large as a 0-3 month dress. You can go up a size hook and make it slightly bigger to get more use out of it.

That actually makes me feel better!!! My son was 6 and a half at 41 weeks and they say girls are typically smaller. I love it and nearly finished it! Now my mom is making her one too!! She is going to have a lot of home made dresses!!

  1. Girls are so much fun to crochet for. My boys get jealous because I make so much for my daughter and only hats for them...lol.

I'm making this dress and its coming out amazing. Its in pink 3 different colors truly amazing that a experienced beginner could actually do this. My 1 st crocheted dress for my 3rd child(2nd daughter). Thank you!!!

  1. Was thinking of making this dress for a older and bigger girl. Around 5 to 6 months of age what do u recommend i do or do u have or know of a bigger dress pattern
